Privacy Policy

Your images and documents never leave your device. We have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies. The only optional outside requests are the map preview and address lookup, which send coordinates to OpenStreetMap when you click them.

1. Who we are

Bytesight is a web tool for inspecting and removing metadata from images and documents (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and PDF). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it. Contact: bytesight@daffi.my.id.

2. Your files

When you choose an image or a document, your browser reads it into memory on your device. Everything happens inside the browser tab, including reading metadata, building the report and creating the cleaned copy. Documents are handled the same way as images.

  • Files and their metadata are never uploaded to our servers or anyone else's.
  • Nothing is saved. A file is cleared when you choose another file, reload the page or close the tab.
  • We can't see, recover or delete your files, because we never have them.

3. Information we don't collect

  • No account, name, email or password. There is no sign-up.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
  • No tracking cookies, and no local storage of your images, documents or results.
  • We don't record the location of the person using the Service. Location shown in Bytesight comes only from the image's own metadata.

The only cookie is a language preference, which stores the display language (for example en) so you don't have to choose it again.

4. Server and hosting logs

Like any website, the server that delivers the Service's pages may automatically record standard technical details when your browser requests a page, such as IP address, browser type and time of request. These logs are kept by our hosting provider for security and to keep the Service running. We don't use them to identify or profile visitors. They never contain your files or their metadata.

5. Optional OpenStreetMap features

These features belong to the photo tool and only use GPS coordinates read from an image. They only run when you click their button:

Map preview

Loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap's tile servers around the image's coordinates. Those servers receive the requested map area and your browser's standard request data, including your IP address.

Find address

Sends the image's latitude and longitude to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to look up the nearest address. Nominatim receives those coordinates and your browser's standard request data, including your IP address. The image itself is never sent.

These requests go directly from your browser to the OpenStreetMap Foundation and are governed by the OSMF privacy policy. If you don't want to share the coordinates, don't use these two features. Everything else works without them.

The document tool has no map or address lookup, including for photos inside a document, and sends no requests to any third party.

Links such as “Open in OpenStreetMap” or “Google Maps” open those websites in a new tab, where their own privacy policies apply.

6. Fonts and assets

Fonts and scripts are served from the same server as the Service, including the libraries that read documents, which load only when you open one. Your browser doesn't contact Google Fonts or any other font or CDN provider.

7. Legal basis and your rights

We don't keep personal data about you beyond the short-lived hosting logs described above. In most cases there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Under data protection laws such as Indonesia's UU PDP or the EU GDPR, you can still contact us with any request about your data and we'll respond.

8. Other people's data in your files

Images can contain personal data about other people, such as their location, their faces or the owner's name. Documents often do too: the names of authors, colleagues named in comments and tracked changes, and the content of the document itself. You are responsible for processing such files lawfully. Our Terms of Service forbid using Bytesight to locate or track anyone.

9. Children

The Service isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone.

10. Changes to this policy

If our practices change, for example if we add on-device scan history, we'll update this policy and the effective date at the top of this page.
